NMBS W

I decided to race the hardtail again at DV and it was a wise choice, with little or no terrian to speak of the 2 lb weight savings off my FS is needed. I didnt know what to expect since I had never raced a National race before. I am liscenced as an Expert and I turn 30 this year so I lined up with the Exp men 30-34. There were about 12 guys lined up at the line and they did call ups for the top 3 guys. I started to get a little nervous about doing well at that point, these guys looked fast. From the gun the pace wasnt very high and into the first climb I decided to get out in front and kill the first 2 steep climbs sly Fox style, because I knew I could recover on the switchbacks coming down. To my surprise at the top of steep double track climb I was out of sight and out of mind from the rest of my class. At this point it was cruise control time. I found it hard to keep motivated until lap 2 when I began to catch riders that started way ahead of me. Then I noticed my rear tire was getting low on air. I forgot to air it up before the start of the race and it must have lost some psi the night before, so I babied it to the finish. My next age grouper was about 4 minutes back so I got to enjoy the win.

I got home and we decided to head up to Idaho and camp with the kids...mistake. The little one was fussy and we forgot her formula and I couldnt get to sleep. I finally got to sleep at about 5am and was woken up at 8am by the oldest, who had slept all night, to do some exploring. I guess my girl crew is still a little young for camping. I think that is our last adventure for the summer that doesnt involve a hotel room.

Nice work! As a high road cat, I would think they would let you move up to semi-pro. Especially with such a large margin of victory.
