Every year I get out my Utah road map and plan out a 3 day ride to St. George or from St. George back to Salt Lake. I have never done it, life gets busy, racing takes over and soon enough its 50 degrees and snowing up high, so another year goes by. Its become somewhat of a joke around the office and at home. One day.....
Leaving from St George
Day 1 St. George - Junction 149 miles
Day 2 Junction- Nephi 121 miles
Day 3 Nephi- SLC 91 miles
or
Day 1 St George - Panguitch 116 miles
Day 2 Panguitch - Nephi 155 miles
Day 3 Nephi - SLC 91 miles
The plan has been to have a significant other follow in the mini and stay the night with us in cozy hotels or campgrounds(KOA types)along the way, they shop and sightsee while we ride and meet us at our destination. I picked 89 instead of the west route because of all the small town and much better scenery along the way. Its hard to get a group commited and I really dont think it would be all that much fun solo but ti may come down to that.
One morning I'll just head South and call the wife in Nephi. Will 2008 be THE year?

Come on Sly, ya got all day to ride the 155 miles. Stop and drink a coke, have a sandwich, nap under a shade tree, then roll a bit more. Take some time to smell the roses, no race pace. Base miles
That is some serious base miles. 360 miles in 3 days. I think it would be fun if I thought I could even survive that much saddle time.
I have been waiting to see you do it for as long as I have read your blog. Has any one put a wager on you doing it this year?
Maybe you should see about finding some one to scooter pace ya or something.

I've done the same thing, but I went extra crazy and planned a trip from Vancouver, Canada to Tijuana, Mexico along Highway 101. It would only take about 10-12 days.
I know there are enough of you crazy bikers that this could sound fun. I am tired of hearing about it I want him to do it. Someone plese say you will do it with him so he doesn't go alone.:)
