Well it wasnt the solo breakaway that I was hoping for at the Hell of the North(insert sarcasm here), but it was fun I must admit. I started to enjoy the dirt and the race after the first lap was over. From the 3-2-1 it was on. Sienna was keepin the pace super high into the dirt and I was on the front going way too hard, about mid way I found myself blowing up off the lead break group. Welcome to the 1/2's I though. Once I caught my breath and my legs got some blood out, I began to enjoy the chase.. I got in with a good group including the Body, A-rock and Jared Nelson among others. I am still learning faces and names. We all really didnt know where we were on course but kept the pace high to get a good workout in. I noticed I was flyin in the dirt so I planned my final lap. Sit 2 guys back until just before the dirt ends and give it a go. With a little help from Jared keepin the pace high it worked and I came in solo off the group. I though of calling it a day early but I have a no quit policy especially in my first 1/2 race. And to my surprise the results are up and I finished 12th. Half the field dropped out, crazy..
So it was fun, my legs are totally destroyed, I got some points, and I got the first road race out of the system, more learning and fitness to come. Sorry DH I couldnt be of any help today, I just dont have the motor tuned yet, especially with a start like that. I must say those Sienna boys are pretty tough as much as I dont like saying it. They went 1-2, DH finished 5th.
I am looking forward to the TT next week.
