reflect

Why do humans long for things they don’t have, experiences they haven’t had, or things they have never seen? I look at a map and see so many places I have never been, things and places I have never seen. I want to see them all, but feel as if I am stuck in a small section of the world that I continue to go back to every day. I have been sleeping in the same patch of earth for 30 years, riding the same trails and roads over and over. Is this what life is about? Grow, work, raise a family, and die all while seeing the same people, and the same things. I have been told to appreciate what I have and just enjoy every little thing. I try, and I do enjoy my life, but there is something inside me that just wants to experience new each day. Must I wait until I am old, retired and can’t really enjoy a healthy body and mind to travel and experience the earth? I hope to begin cutting the strong ties that bind me to this patch of dirt so I can soon roam free to feed the vagabond spirit that lives deep in my soul

If it is any consolation, I lived in California, Utah, Japan, Minnesota, Connecticut, and Texas all for more than a year each (seen all four seasons). I like Utah the best by far.I think a lot of people like where they live, because that is what they have become accustom to liking. I might like California more, if it hadn't of changed so much.
