The hollow was how my legs felt Saturday at the race, nothing. I held on to top 5 until the climb, then my power to weight ratio reared its ugly head. No watts. I had a rough night with the kids the night before and got a broken total of 4 hours sleep the night before the race. I knew I would be on fire or in serious trouble. Trouble was it, I pulled the plug after one lap.
Today was great, I literally dusted off the Spot singlespeed for a couple laps around the Draper course. 40+ Expert winner Stupidbike Bob was up there, along with Brad Keyes. I also ran into an old friend that used to work a the big S. If you plan on racing the Draper MTB, make sure your tire setup is equiped for thorns. I got 3 flats in 2 laps. Lots of goatheads.
I'm taking a break from the racing and training to concentrate on why I ride a bike, fun. So far I'm doing just fine.....

You need to do the Clark's TT. It's a lot more enjoyable than it sounds!
Take some time off man! maybe do some swimming with AJ, that will motivate you to start riding again...
I'm with sohmy! We love having Daddy around more! Love ya!
EWW Gross!
Sorry
Simon Burney says sleep the night before is not so important. It's all about the night before the night before. Follow? Many racers don't sleep much the night before due to nerves, I'm one of them, but as long as you get a good nights sleep on Thursday, you should be fine. Something deeper is going on.
It's amazing what a little time off from racing can do. I've been struggling for the past few seasons with my love for riding/racing and how to keep the balance working. I think that after two seasons of being "flat" I've finally found the love again. Good luck and enjoy!
