I headed up to Sugarhouse after work last night for some cross practice. Of course its pouring rain and AJ is already riding and antagonizing DC and I to get out of the car and get going. So being the easily persuaded type I oblige. We set up some barriers in the grass with some logs covered in Ketchup that we found in the park fire pit. I start slow and get in a few good runs without a problem, so I pick up the pace a bit and thats when the fun starts. AJ took a good roll in the grass and I just laughed....My first crash I was able to stay away from the bike when I went down but the second time was a different story. A chainring to the forearm, spokes to the hand and a pedal to the groin took me out for good. When I took my arm warmer off I had a good deep gash oozing blood, so I headed to the local emergency room where I used there bathroom to clean it up and decide that I didnt need stiches. I must have been a surgeon in my last life because I got a real eye for this stuff. So its hydrogen Peroxide and Neosporine for me.
I have a history with hospitals and emergency rooms in general. I took many trips while I was a kid from ripping my chin open racing my buddies down the street to swallowing a quarter that got stuck in my esophagas. And of course the 5 broken bones including the compound fracture of my leg near the ankle. The doctors though it broke at my growth plate and my leg wouldnt grow. Ha ha I showed them. I could have been a gimp! I worked for my aunts flower shop delivering flowers when I was younger. I got to know what hospitals smelled of death the most. Salt Lake Regonial and St. Marks had the worse death smell of them all. I get weeezy just thinking about it. But the worst hospital visit is when my daughter needed stiches in her face. It was really hard to watch and I about fainted a couple times. Poor little thing had to be strapped down hannibal style.
Anyway maybe cross isnt for me? I guess we will find out more tomorrow in Ogden
