PC 45.82

I did a big ride/race this past weekend up in Park City. The PC50 as its called. I signed up because I dont get up to Park City to ride the best trails on earth enough and knew this would be a great oportunity to ride them without too much traffic on the trail and keep a nice fast pace.

A last minute decision had me going with hydration packs instead of bottles which worked great. I had cool water all day in the pack and Carborocket in a bottle all day. The start was a mass start and I tried to get toward the front..a few miles in I started to realize I was going a bit too hard for a 5 hour day and started to conserve as riders began to pass. In the back of mind I was thinking, see ya at mile 48 fellas...no such luck.

I felt OK all day and the climbs kept coming. I hadnt ridden the course but was told 50 miles and 8000ft of climbing so I kept conserving a bit for the last 20 which I figured would be a chance to pour it on and finish strong. I was a bit off in my assumption and strategy as I crossed the finish line with 45.82 miles and less than 7000ft of climbing. I still had plenty of go in the legs. I had a blast out there for 5 hours of training. Shannon, Bob and their crew put on a great event..looking forward to their next one.
