I think it is somewhat official now. I have joined the crowds and turned into a Tri Geek, but a dirty one. I dont ride a TT bike on the road for endless miles...in fact I havent ridden any bike with tires smaller than 32c in over a year. I have not ran more than 3 miles total on pavement. I choose dirt as my main source of knee pounding threshold self inflicted pain since I started this quest to Xterra.
5 weeks in and I am starting to get a hold of the running. Swimming- easy breezy, Mountain biking- no problem. I have left my lifelong loyalty to Adidas and have been running in Brooks. So far so good. The Cascadia 5 is a great trail shoe and I am looking forward to the Cascadia 6 after I wear the 5's out.
Vegas is a qualifier for Xterra worlds in Maui. I am not expecting to make the cut but the possibility is in the back of my mind. I doubt this rookie runner can hold off my fellow age groupers to take a spot...but I will shoot for it and enjoy a kid free weekend in Vegas with my wife

Sounds fun! No, not the swimming or biking or running ;)
I ran one mile yesterday, and snowshoed four today and I am crippled. A chubby guy like me can't take the beating on the knees.
Good Luck with qualifying.
