Renegade

I Grabbed a new set of Specialized Renegade MTB tires designed by Mr Sauser. With racing just a few days away, a new set of rubber is a good way to get you excited about racing again after a long winter.

Initial Impressions- I wasnt sure these short knobs were going to do much with my weight class, sitting around 165 I usually need a more aggresive tire to keep me upright and railing corners.
Setup- Specialized tires with Roval wheels are a dream. I mounted these tubeless with Stans without using an air compresor, just a floor pump did the trick. Overnight I didnt lose any air, which is a good sign the bead is seated nice. 455 grams on my scale..not the lightest but still a light tire.
First Ride- I finally got out on these tires today. First feeling was fast...wow these roll very fast, the low knob height is probably the biggest factor. The tire profile is very rounded which causes you to steer more then a square profile tire like the Captain. I pushed this tire hard and was very impressed. This tire will be great for hardpack or rocky courses. Its disadvantage will be loose or muddy conditions. Off camber loose gravel or soil is this tires biggest enemy.

Hopefully I'll get a chance to race them this weekend in St George
