bummed

I've been thinking about the State championships since last year when I won the title by default after Ali crashed, Bart was out of town and Sam the winner is a resident of Idaho. It never felt I deserved it and I wanted to win one with all the fast guys there. Saturday was the day I had been waiting for, for a year. I wanted the win really bad, more then any race in a long long time. The Heber course has been good to me and Saturday was no different, flat and fast.

For the first time ever I felt like I was as strong as Bart and Ali. We got off the front and cruised along, Bart was doing most the work. I went hard a couple times to make sure it was just us three and try to keep the pace up. Ali was not his usual "all out" self. I could tell he was resting up for the final lap when he pinned it. I stayed as close as I could hoping I could get to the final straight together and come by him...didnt happen. I was in the perfect position but Ali was just to strong and had saved a little more than me in the end. I missed it by a few feet. Congrats to Ali who is really flying this year.

This one will eat at me for a while. My goal this year was to race at the front of the race with the leaders and I have done that for the most part...but losing a close one you really wanted....just sucks
