UTCX 1

I was a little worried at the start sitting on the second row because there were no call ups this first race, but I got behind 2 wheels I knew would be at the front soon, Bart and Alex. The first couple laps were kinda slow, I think we were just feeling out the course I felt really good and was able to stay with any accelerations. The front group eventually whittled down to about 5 guys. Ali, Bart, Alex, Reed and myself. I could also feel Bryce with us. The course was a lot of fun and was good for me, flat and fast but also had a lot of corners. The skinny guys were definitely accelerating out of the corners faster than me. With 5 laps to go I went hard at the front and noticed I got a gap, but in a few seconds Bart was with me. I did everything just to stay with him for a couple laps but just couldn't hold his wheel. He had another gear I couldn't find and blew the lead group apart. Alex kept me honest behind me with a great ride. I finished second and was very happy to race with the leaders and keep it all together. I still have some work to do, but I can see the work I have done to get ready for CX is going to pay off.

Its non-stop cross until nationals....the greatest time of the year!!!
