The HARD way

Triathlons are hard. Hard on your body, hard to train for, hard mentally and very hard on the wallet. After breaking my shoulder I tried to get out of the SGTri this weekend with no luck. What if I had something more serious like 2 broken legs, I probably still wouldnt have gotten out of it. Greedy promotors! Anyway I rolled down to St George to tri to do the tri. With high winds on the lake the swim was canceled. I wasnt too worried until they decided to run a 5k, bike, then another 5k. I cant run! No training since Feb and I cant run. I barely made it though the first run and had fun on the bike, only to stop the stupidity 2 minutes into the final run. DNF Now I cant walk with the two sticks I used to call legs.

I learn things the HARD way. Next time I decide to do a triathlon...I train then sign up day off. Seeing how hard tri's are, I dont think I will be doing one anytime soon. Back to cycling

I tried to do the SG Tri in 2007. Similar result. Thunderstorm came over, got cold and windy, they canceled the whole thing. I wasn't happy.

They canceled the bike at the Salem Tri last year after another storm.

Having 3 events means it's 3 times less likely to go off as planned. Or I'm just Tri cursed.

I'm signed up for the Salem Tri again this year - I just want to do all 3 events at least once.

It's good to mix it up a little, then you dont get burned out with just one sport. You would probably love it if you had actually ran a few times before the race. I need to take you on the mud run again!!However it's dry now.
