Elite?

This wasnt the Elite race, same pain though
I lined up about mid pack for the elite race on Sunday afternoon, right next to Ali. The temperature dropped about 30 degrees from that morning but I was fine. I got a good start after a false whistle that had us all slamming into each other, then before we could get back into our spots they blew the real whistle...nice!! So much for an Elite UCI start. I moved up quite a bit on the first few laps, probably about 30 back when my back started to tighten up, eventually I had no power and decided to stop racing and grab my coveralls to enjoy the show. Trebon is a machine, good to see Page get a woopin. It was great having all the fans screaming for you, just a huge mass of bells, screams and horns. Very addicting.
Overall it was a good trip other than the driving. A wise man (Bart) told me I will never do it again and he was right. I even skipped out on the drive home in favor of a jetplane. My hero of the weekend was the Caveman who drove the motorhome back home without any problems and big thanks to the team car that followed with Daren and Tanner. I am a "big ball of nerves" and the trip home would have sent me to the funny farm in a straight jacket. I will be at CX nats next year. Rumour has it going to Portland. Anyone up for driving my bike up there, because I will be booking a flight.

So now what? No more cross other than the last call race which I am excited about. I got some skate ski's but I have no clue how to mount the bindings or even the first thing about using them in actual snow. This Utah native has never skied in my 30 years, only a snowboard. I signed up for the SG Tri which isnt until May so I have some free time. I guess its time to get a plan together for next CX season. I see some running, skiing, swimming and weight lifting in my near future and of course some warm MTB action in St. George....as soon as the snow melts!
