Saturday at the Fort was sweet. I came into the race with zero expectations because I had been sick all week. On the first lap I attacked Bart and Ali and got the lead into the barriers. I think that sparked Bart a little bit because I could hear the jet engines as he blew past me, never to be seen again. He disapeared within 20 seconds. I just watched in awe not able to do anything after putting in a decent attack. I settled into 3/4 spot with young Robby from Binghams and we worked together for the whole race until he put the hurt on me with 2 to go. I couldnt follow and tried to bring him back with one to go, but just couldnt close it down. That kid is fast. I was OK with 4th considering the sick week I had. Best course of the year I think.
We stopped for lunch with Bob and soonKevin talked me into going up to Ketchum. I had sworn off Ketchum last year after a very bad trip for my self and my wife. Kevin should have listened. By far the worst course I have ridden all year with a huge run up and the same barrier section. I had no legs or motivation but managed to come from the back at the start to finish 5th. Crispy and Sam K battled both days for the win with huge gaps to us mortals. $40 dollar entry fee, no payout, the worst CX course ever, and one of the worst drives equals....never again, sorry Ketchum.

Stupid Ketchup, I mean Ketchum Cowboys!
Be careful Young Race Promoter. Not all are as blessed with Great Course like we have been this year.
Glad you liked my Course.
Matt
This must be the famous downhill barrier design feature? Aargh!
It's not just the venue, but what you do with it. Cippo and co. have done a great job this year.
Eric, No doubt that Race directors have to work with the venue we choose.
For the upcoming KING of CROSS this is what I PROMISE.
I just wrote up a bill of rights for a cross course. I promise a wide course that you will not a want a mountain bike for.
-Classic grass course
as long as the weather holds!
-9 to 12 MINUTE LAPS!!
-LONG, WIDE, FLAT, UPHILL, STRAIGHT START
-No Sharp gravel corners
-DOUBLE WIDE barriers!
-Great footing on the RUN-UP and Great footing for the barriers.
-WIDE finish.
-VERY little if any single track
-Tons of room to pass and move up
-NO ROCKS or ROOTS.
Nothing to flat your $100 tubulars on...
-The course will be hard. But the best riders will win.
