Phat Tires?

Attention all XC racer types. What tires are you running for XC racing? I am venturing out of the big S box and looking to get a better tire for loose racing conditions. I am leaning towards the Maxxis Larsen TT. Anyone have any other recommendations for a good all around tire that hooks up and can be ran tubeless with Stan's sealant.???????? And its got to be in the 400-550 gram weight range.

So far I've only run heavy UST tires. However, after talking with Sly I ordered a pair of Conti Speedkings. I was going to go with the Supersonic version but chickened out and decided on the PROTection model. They are under 600 grams and I'll let you know how they work out.

so, in order to stop debating with sly. Try the new maxxis monorail, I really like it and I have ridden the larsen TT (UST version) for several years, it rolls faster and seems to corner better.

With UST tires the side walls are to thick and stiff and you can't feel the trail. It makes it so changes in air pressure don't equal changes in performance and feel. When I get on a bike with UST it feels like steering a bus! Cotton supple tubulars feel good on the road because of soft sidewalls!

All around tire: kenda karma- aprox 450g, seals with stans but requires a littel more attention than say a michelin, good in dry and wet. I use this becasue I don't like to change tires all the time.
dry condition: kenda kozmic lite II (450g) for all out racing. small block 8 1.9 or 2.0 if you need more float
Michelin XCR dry II is also a ripper in dry conditions but wears fast. The XC dry does well in about everything and I even used it in the vermont mud last year.

The Icup trails are all buffed smooth with nothing technical so we don't have much need for real tread, I would use something fast and light.
just my opinion!
