You may recognize this fella. He dropped me on the lunch ride today. He is older than my Dad. He was one of my heros as a kid growing up and I bought my first Specialized because I wanted to ride like him. I have gotten to know him over the past 8 years working with the big S. He is the real thing.

Late comment on XC skiing:
I've done cross country skiing for years on the rec level. It gets you out in the Winter - a very good thing. I've done all classical until 4 weeks ago when I tried skate skiing. Skating works you harder. I was able to get most of the technique, and it was fun to go fast on the flats and down, but up is serious work. Skate is most fun on groomed tracks - best if you live near a track. Classical is much more versitle - you can go off-track into the fresh stuff fine and pretty fast on-track - and your speed can be anything from a walk to an all-out sprint. With skate there's kind of a minimum speed you have to go just to be moving at all and it takes pretty good effort. So my opinion is to start with classical. That said I'd love to have skate gear too - it is fun.

Freaky, you guys look very much alike. Are you sure he isn't really your father?
