There I was sitting 4th on Barts wheel, DH was setting the pace, Ali attacks and I am NOT hurting, feeling good, finally a good start with good legs, "Maybe I can hang with these Utah cross giants today", then bam I mistake a pile of leaves for dirt going into a cement section and blow my front tubular. I run to the pit to grab my spare bike and I am now dead last working my way back.
I had a really good race, I moved back up into 7th and felt good. Those days are few and far between this late in the season so to catch some bad luck on a good watts day is well....racing I guess. Next week maybe.
Thanks to the Hornet and Gardie for the words of encouragement which kept me in the game and working hard to catch the next guy ahead of me. CROSS KICKS ASS! Looks like Sam is also..... taking 6th at Jingle Cross in Iowa, nice work Sam.

Hey Danika (Rico), I am going to stop buying your posters and calenders if you dont start getting some podium wins. Enough of this 4th-10th place finishes.
Rico, you were screaming by us...we both agreed that you were the fastest rider of the day through the back section... way to go... we both felt pretty bad when you had the mechanical, but it's not how you start... its how you finish, studly work...
