The strike is over!

I ended the cycling strike with 4 hours on one of my favorite trails on earth, Stucki Springs. If you have never done it, its worth the price of gas to get down to SG to ride it. I started from town and rode the great network of paved trails that SG has to Bloomington then rode a few miles to the trailhead. I met Rich at his in-laws at 7:30am and we were off. It was great to be back on the bike for a long ride. I think I may have lost a lot of the weight I had gained over the week in the 100 degree sun. I felt really flat and slow but that was expected.

It was overall a great weekend in the sun. I got a sunburn of course, and the wife and kids enjoyed playing in the pool and shopping. We came home late late last night and slept in this morning in our own beds. SG has changed since I roamed the streets in the late 90's. Gone are the days of a ghost town feel during the summer months. But at least the trails are still empty.

I now have a week of detox from all the Coke,Mtn Dew, Ice Cream, and Fast food that I found myself enjoying all weekend. Back to business on the bike. It looks like I am 3rd in the points in the Cat 3's and still holding on to the top spot in the B's for the crit series. 2 more weeks of no racing and I will be ready for more.
